ICC has released it’s latest ODI rankings. The current ICC rankings have taken a lot of heaps and bounds. New Zealand leg-spinner Ish Sodhi and fast bowler Lockie Ferguson have moved up in the ICC Men’s ODI Player Ranking pertaining to their performance in the latest test whitewash of 3-0 against Sri Lanka in NewZealand.
Lasith Malinga, Thisara Perera and Henry Nicholls are the others to move up the rankings. India tops the test Ranking but pertaining to current ODI against Australia they would look forward to increasing the ODI Rankings. India, Australia, South Africa and Pakistan are yet to increase their points before the upcoming 2019 World Cup. Meanwhile, Sodhi and Ferguson are both together on the 31st spot. Sodhi’s total eight wickets have lifted him up 26 slots and Ferguson’s has lifted him 12 slots higher to 31st.
On the other hand, the Kiwi batsmen, Ross Taylor and Martin Guptill have retained their spots to 3rd and 14th position respectively. Whereas, the Kiwi Captain, Kane Williamson has dropped his points going from 10 to 11th position. Henry Nicholls has gained 21 places to take 59th position while Colin Munro has moved up from 58th to 56th.
Niroshan Dickwella (up one place to 26th), Thisara Perera (up 22 places to 65th), Kusal Perera (up seven places to 66th) and Danushka Gunathilaka (up 11 places to 82nd) are the Lankan batsmen to gain from the recent test series.
New Zealand as a team has retained the third spot in ODI team ranking with 113 points and Lanka dropped to points yet rescued the eighth spot. India is currently in the fourth spot and with upcoming Australia ODI series, they would be looking forward to moving to higher spots with having close points.
A lot of changes awaits as teams would be fighting out at ICC World Cup 2019 this year in England and Wales from 30 May to 14 July, with 13 matches scheduled in a period of just over three weeks.
