Indian Cricket Team To Get A New Coach?
Having won the Asia Cup 2018, Team India is now gearing up for their all-important series against the West Indies. Their journey since their last 3 months has been both bitter and sweet.
They started the T20 series against the Poms on a high by toppling them in their own backyard. They fought hard in the ODI Series as well but unfortunately for them, England got the better of Virat Kohli and his men in the 50 over format. As far as the Test Series was concerned, yes, the score-line did suggest 4-1 but even Joe Root felt otherwise.
No, they certainly did not play the way for Ravi Shastri to give them the tag of the best Indian Team to have ever visited England but they did not play poorly either. Who knew only if India sealed the crucial moments the result might have been different but cricket doesn’t like if’s or buts. It never did.
While their bowlers did a great job, it was their batsmen barring Virat Kohli who failed to take control when James Anderson and company which also included debutant Sam Curran swung it a mile under overcast conditions. While that was expected to happen to an extent exactly the same way overseas teams struggle in the sub-continent, what wasn’t expected is India failing to pick up the spin of Moeen Ali.
What is more worrying is the fact that the phenomena of India struggling with spin has only increased in the last 1 year and the BCCI certainly does not wish to take this one sitting down. According to a few reports in the Mumbai Mirror, the Head Coach of the Indian Cricket Team, Ravi Shastri was seen in discussion with a few officials from the Board and there is a serious chance that the Indian Board might opt for a new spinning coach to assist Ravi Shastri.
