Top 10 Longest Sixes In ODI Cricket

The Top 10 Longest Sixes In ODI Cricket

Cricket, as they say, has now become quite a batsman’s game especially after the introduction of T20 cricket. The batsmen have invented quite a few new strokes which even the coaches would never teach you in order to make some runs of every delivery they play owing it to the need of the hour.

The grounds have become smaller, the boundaries have been pushed in to make them smaller as well, as the new generation loves to see more boundaries and sixes and that’s what drives the crowd these days. Is that good or bad is for another blog but Cric Crak is just stating how it actually is.

The players have also developed a lot of muscle power with so much focus on weight training and to top it off they use bats with a much-increased width size. The pitches have also become way flatter than before with hardly any swing or bounce and that’s exactly why bowlers like Starc, Rabada and company are regarded right up there-“It’s a batsman’s world”, they always say!

With so much focus on trying to hit a six in almost every over, we have seen some Daddy Sixes over these years. Cric Crak presents to you -The Top 10 Longest ODI Sixes Of All Time!

10. MS Dhoni

He had to be there right?  No surprises that a top 10 list can’t be complete without the name of Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

This happened when India was playing Australia in the 2011- 2012 Commonwealth Bank Series. India required 12 runs off 4 balls and the stage was set for one of the best finishers in this history of ODI Cricket and then the wicket-beer batsman from India did the unexpected yet again.

Clint McKay tried his level best to bowl a good yorker, if it was another man, he might have even sneaked a dot ball with that length but certainly not when MSD was in that sort of a mood. Dhoni read the length early, converted it into a full toss and smashed it out of the park for a 112 meters gigantic six. His hit has been recorded as the 10th longest six in ODI Cricket till date.
