KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya made an appearance on a renowned Talk show named ‘Koffee With Karan’ which is hosted by pronounced Indian Film director and producer namely, Karan Johar. Going with the norms of the show Karan Johar heaped some personal and intriguing questions on the cricketers to which they made some startling remarks that were not quite acceptable by the crowd.
Some racist and misogynist comment on women was highly slammed by the fans. According to people that is definitely misconduct from sportsmen who represent their country. The duo choosing Virat Kohli as best over Sachin Tendulkar was also not quite received well. According to people, although Virat is a modern era great Sachin’s grandeur is unmatchable. Although Pandya after getting slams took to social media platform to issue an apology claiming he was carried away by the light-hearted show and thus had no intention to hurt anyone’s sentiment.
But like people of India, this was not well accepted by BCCI and the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) sent a show cause notice to both Rahul and Hardik. “We have sent show cause notices to Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul for their comments. They have given 24 hours to give an explanation,” CoA chief Vinod Rai was quoted as saying in Hindustan Times.
A BCCI official revealed that the show never was limited to light-hearted comments or revelations about personal life but it has now taken the lift on issues about respecting women. He also said that just an apology for his misconduct is not enough and he should understand himself being an international cricketer representing India and what impact such comments would have on the society.
“More importantly, he needs to learn how to differentiate between the right and the wrong. Right now he seems to merely respond to the outrage and not to his own thought process and conduct,” he further added.
Ratnakar Shetty, former BCCI manager of Game Development, who is with Uttarakhand as a BCCI nominee, termed this behavior as disgraceful. He said that he had posted a complaint at CoA and doesn’t want to see such behaviors repeated by a cricketer in the future. He also has tweeted about his feelings.
We have to wait to see what are next things to be said.
