The Kings XI Punjab scored 182 runs which was the highest total this year at Mohali. Rajasthan had to pull off a stunner if they had to chase this one and while it started well for the Rajasthan Royals with Ajinkya Rahane demoting himself and Rahul Tripathi and Jos Bulter getting off the Royals to a flyer.
Having said that, the problems increased for the Royals where Rahane was left wanting with the old ball, a department which has been a major cause of concern for Rahane in T20 cricket. While he manages to find gaps with ease during the Power-Play it all goes down the drain post the first 6 overs for the Royals Captain once the battle is all about power-hitting.
With no disrespect to him, there is absolutely no doubt that he is one of the best in the test circuit but T20 doesn’t seem his cup of tea anymore. If we come to think of it even T20 cricket is changing quite a bit with 200 being the new 180 and someone like a Rahane doesn’t, unfortunately, seem to fit in there. While many believed that he shouldn’t open the batting- Well- He did not but then that made things much worse. So what does Rajasthan do now? What does Ajinkya Rahane do?
While there is always a possibility for someone so talented as Ajinkya Rahane to make a comeback by working on his weakness as all champion players do, at the moment the jury seems to be quite against him as far as the T20 format is concerned. Here is how Twitter reacted..

Was that really Stuart Binny? I hadn’t thought in my wildest dreams that Binny could bat so well! #KXIPvRR

As usual, @rajasthanroyals has shown weird tactic, this time around holding Stuart Binny until late into the chase while sending Rahane, who has been below average in this ipl, up the order. Fascinating. #IPL2019 #KXIPvRR
