What a day of Test Cricket it was on the first day of the much-anticipated series between India and England. While India had one decent and 1 poor session of play, everyone was looking at at-least a 450+score by the Three Lions. What happened next further implied the fact that why Test Cricket is actually the real test of character of any individual/team.
England was playing high-quality cricket and India, on the other hand, kept looking for wickets and never did it seem like their shoulders had dropped. The visitors staged a remarkable comeback by grabbing 6 wickets in the final session of play, only for Mohammad Shami to do the rest of the formalities the next morning by accounting for the final English wicket.
India started off well with the bat and the 2 openers managed a 50 run partnership providing a solid base. It took England to use their final review in the 14th over of the game when Sam Curran who finally accounted for Murali Vijay’s wicket thought it was pitching in line and so it did!

In came KL Rahul, who got a streaky boundary of the first ball, and surprisingly tried to go for another one just off the next delivery only to get an inside edge which clattered back on. With all due respect to Sam, there was nothing magical about that ball, not even close to how Ashwin got Cook, but just a poor shot by KL Rahul. The right-handed batsman should certainly have shown more responsibility considering someone like Pujara had been left out to accommodate him. The price- tag on his wicket should definitely have been higher but it wasn’t to be and in no time, in came the Indian Captain Virat Kohli.
The jury seems to be angry with KL was much more than just surface level initiatives were expected from the man who has ‘Talent’ written all over him. Here is how KL Rahul lost his wicket…

Well, as much as we acknowledge that such things can happen in sport and one innings doesn’t make him a bad player, we really hope that he acts more responsibly the next time around and shall leave it to that.
