Yes, England finally won the first Test Match, thanks to Ben Stokes who managed to pick up the all-important wicket of Virat Kohli who was threating to take it away from the home side. The former England Captain, Michel Vaughan, who has played 52 Test Matches for England had a few interesting suggestions ahead of the second Test which begins in no time.
The former right-handed batsman wanted Joe Root to drop David Malan and get in a right-hander instead to accommodate Ashwin’s threat. As we all know, the off-spinner loves bowling to left-handers and has always had Cook as his bunny. There is also a bigger problem for England than just tackling Ravichandran Ashwin. There will be no Ben Stokes. Yes, you read that right.
Who Will Replace Ben Stokes For The 2nd Test Match At Lords Against India?
As per the plan, Ben Stokes who had fought with a few lads outside a nightclub in Bristol last year has to go for his court hearing and a result, will not be available for selection for the second Test Match. So who would replace the irreplaceable? Well, there is a serious chance that either of Moeen Ali or Chris Woakes make it to the playing XI depending on the overhead and pitch conditions at Lords.
Irrespective of whoever makes it to the playing XI, losing Ben Stokes will certainly be a huge blow for the Three Lions and England will be hoping that all goes well with him in order to have him back from the Third Test Match. As far as India is concerned, we all know what they did at Lords in the summer of 2014 but their batsmen would still need to step up irrespective.
